The titular painting was painted by Francesco Zahra between the years 1750-1759. St Francis can be seen kneeling down praying in a cave with a cross next to him.
The altar of this chapel is made of white marble and was made in Italy by the firm Sarti of Pietra Santa in Italy. This altar has ten small statues of Franciscan saints. In the centre of the altar there is plaque depicting St Francis of Assisi. On the sides there is a statue of St Ludovicus IX King of France and of St Clare of Assisi. The paving was made in 1954 and was paid by family Ellul whose coat of arms is shown.
At the right side of the altar, on the door leading to the sacristy is a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus painted by Ramiro Cali.
On the side is a marble plaque commemorating Mr. Giuseppe Camilleri, who was Maestro di Cappella of the same parish for a number of years until 1970. He was a composer from Sliema who composed various church music which are still played and sung.
On the left side of the altar is a crucifix made by Agostino Camilleri which was used during the Good Friday function in the church.
